This blog will offer a backstage view of the research generated under the auspices of the ERC project “Apartheid—The Global Itinerary: South African Cultural Formations in Transnational Circulation, 1948-1990” led by Professor Louise Bethlehem. The blog will feature posts written by our researchers about our findings in the field or in the archive, and other thoughts and reflections. In our research, we often encounter intriguing documents, arresting images, sounds and pieces of scholarship. Some of them immediately inspire a conference paper or an article; others contribute to the overall consolidation of the archive. We think of our posts as an invitation to participate in our thought process and welcome your comments. We will try to suppress academic jargon, to keep the blog current, and to share the ideas, thoughts and deliberations that crop up while researching apartheid South Africa from a global and current perspective.
